Farmers: Get Dough for Going “O”

Via Midwest Organic & Sustainable Education Services (MOSES):

Excellent Funding Opportunity Available For Organic Producers

USDA has allocated $50 million for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) Organic Initiative in 2011.

This exciting opportunity is available to certified organic growers, those transitioning to organic farming systems, and those exempt from formal certification through the small farm exemption. The Organic Initiative offers financial and technical assistance to implement new conservation practices, such as cover cropping, pest management, crop rotation, stream buffers, hedgerow planting, and various other practices.

This program’s funds were not fully used last year, we encourage you to apply this year. Both small and large producers can benefit from these cost share dollars, and the application process is easy.

The deadline to apply for  is March 4. For more info, read Organic Farming Research Foundation’s description of the program.
