I’m very fond of Lighthouse Farm and I’m excited to get there with the Twin Cities Crop Mob on July 17. It’s a very small grass-fed beef, pork (that’s the pork-to-be, at left), lamb, poultry, and egg operation, about an hour north of the Twin Cities.
Lighthouse Farm does a terrific direct-market business. They sell their meat straight to you, and if you live in their delivery area, they will bring your order to your door, no additional charge.

Lighthouse Farm Newsletter: Sowing and Reaping – June 21, 2010
We are extremely grateful for all the rain we’ve had lately. This will translate into a huge hay crop for feeding to the cattle and sheep this winter. The past few years have been so dry, we have struggled to make enough hay.
Over the weekend, we spent a day as a “featured farm” at the GrazeFest 2010 event at Mill City Farmer’s Market in Minneapolis. Our steak was prepared by Joe Hatch-Surisook of senyai senlek (Big Noodle, Little Noodle) Thai restaurant in NE Minneapolis. Joe made a fantastic salad-like dish of sticky rice, steak, herbs and veggies that was a huge hit with the crowd at Mill City.
We met hundreds of folks at the market and had a wonderful time in conversation with new friends and even some of our current customers!

Seems like everyone loves our 100% grass fed, organic ground beef [The Local in Minneapolis carries Lighthouse Farm Meatloaf -- FFF]. Our beef is priced at $7.00/lb., and if you order 20# or more, the price is just $6.00/lb. And don’t forget, all orders receive Free Delivery within our delivery area.
You can order any quantity of meat you like from us. You do NOT have to order in bulk! However, since many of you have asked about smaller sized packages of bulk beef and pork:
Beef – A balanced mix of cuts, 40-50% ground beef, the rest in equal amounts of steak and roasts.
70-75# Beef Box – $6/lb. = $450 (a little less than 1/4 beef)
45-50# Beef Box – $7/lb. = $350
22-25# Beef Box – $8/lb. = $200
9-10# Beef Box – $9/lb. = $90
Pork – A balanced mix of chops, roasts, ham, bacon and ground.
70-75# Pork Box – $6/lb. = $450 (about 1/2 hog)
45-50# Pork Box – $7/lb. = $350
22-25# Pork Box – $8/lb. = $200
9-10# Pork Box – $9/lb. = $90
