EQIP: New deadline for Minnesota organic farmers

Minnesota’s Dept of Agricutlure (MDA) has $1.8 million in grants to offer organic farmers conducting certain conservation programs. Grants are available in increments of $20,000 per year or $80,000 over six years. The money is available through EQIP, which is offering $50 million nationwide.

We just learned from the MDA’s organic specialist that the agency  applied for and received a one month extension for organic farmers (and those transitioning to organic farming) who still want to file applications for grants. The new deadline is June 30, 2009 (it was May 22). This is a great opportunity for small organic farmers to deepen or expand their organic operations. More information here. Spread the word!
